Joint Commission

Vithas Xanit International Hospital, part of the Vithas Healthcare Group, has received an accreditation for quality and safety from The International Joint Commission (JCI). Vithas Xanit International Hospital has become the ninth hospital in Spain, and the first private hospital in Andalucia to obtain this award.

The International Joint Commission (JCI) is a highly prestigeous international monitoring body which is part of the Joint Commission Healthcare Organisation (JCAHO). Their purpose is to improve standards in healthcare on a worldwide scale, by offering opportunities for accreditation.

This award gives prestigeous recognition on an international level which only 8 other hospitals in Spain apart from Vithas Xanit International Hospital have acheived.

The Joint Commission currently has more experience in healthcare standards than any other organisation in the world. It has awarded almost 20.000 international centers with accreditations.  The information and the experience obtained when evaluating these organisations is used to periodically update standards, and adapt to changes in healthcare services. The JCI’s evaluation process is designed to adapt to the legal, religous, and cultural characteristics of each country, whilst always focusing on patient care.

The objective is to develop healthcare which focuses on the patient, and offers interdisciplinary care according to their needs. The patient’s quality care is evaluated from the moment they arrive to the moment that they are discharged. The standards particularly focus on those areas relating to patient security and the reduction of risks in clinical processes and care.
